Jun 28, 2021 3:28:36 PM

There are thousands of startup programs in a wide variety of fields. But there are very few for agtech startups. You probably heard about us on social media, somebody introduced you to us, or you ended up at RootCamp by chance. Either way, still need more information about us and our program? Still unsure if you should apply to RootCamp with your startup? Then I have written down 10 reasons why our accelerator program is the right one for you.

1. Our mission

Based in Hannover, Germany, RootCamp is a stage-independent accelerator focused on AgTech, Bioeconomy, and the Circular Economy. We work with ambitious startups that are ready to move faster, scale smarter, and bring impactful solutions to market. At RootCamp, you’ll gain direct access to industry leaders, hands-on support, and a powerful network designed to accelerate your growth and maximize your impact.

2. A Program Built Around You

No two startups are the same. Each comes with its own vision, approach, and goals. So why settle for a one-size-fits-all accelerator? At RootCamp, we design the program around your specific needs. So you can focus on what actually moves your business forward. You’ll take part in a set of carefully selected core workshops across key business areas, complemented by a flexible pool of on-demand sessions you can choose from. From legal & tax to marketing & PR, sales, internationalization and IT - we cover every aspect that matters to your growth. And our support doesn’t stop when the program ends. Through our strong ecosystem, we continue to support you long after your cohort finishes, helping you navigate the next stages of your journey.

3. Hannover: At the Heart of AgriFood Innovation

What better place to grow an AgTech startup than at the center of Germany’s agricultural industry? Hannover offers a strategic location surrounded by some of the world’s leading agrifood players, giving you direct access to corporate partners, markets, and opportunities. 4. Modern Working space

Our program is designed to be hybrid, giving you the flexibility to work from wherever you are. But if you’re looking for a place to plug in we’ve got you covered. Right in the city center of Hannover, we offer over 400 m² of modern, loft-style office space. You’ll have 24/7 access to a coworking area for your team, along with dedicated spaces for every need: event areas, a cozy fireplace room for meetings, quiet corners for deep focus, and even an air hockey table to unwind.

5. Real Expertise. No Theory.

At RootCamp, you don’t get generic advice, you get real-world expertise from people who’ve been there and done it. Our network brings together experienced startup coaches and industry experts across a wide range of fields, all dedicated to supporting you and your startup on your journey. Each startup gets personalized coaching. To complement this hands-on support, you’ll also have access to our online learning academy with more than 100+ practical learning units. And when new challenges arise (because they always do), we’re right there with you. No templates, no guesswork. Just real people working with you to find real solutions.

6.  Venture Clienting in Action

Your idea works in theory. Now it’s time to prove it in the real world. Together with leading industry partners like K+S, you’ll work on real pilot projects that bring your solution into practice and generate early traction. This approach allows you to validate your product, uncover new opportunities for growth, and gain first-hand experience of how large corporates operate. We’ve already facilitated exciting venture clienting projects between startups and corporates, many of which have gone far beyond initial pilot projects. Alumni like Aquapurna and BIOWEG are strong examples of how successful these partnerships can be.

7. Capital and equity free

While it’s still common for some accelerators and incubators to take an equity stake—whether through shares or claims on your IP, we believe there’s a better way. We know how much effort it takes to build something meaningful. And we also know how it feels to give parts of it away. It’s your startup. Your idea. Your ownership. You get the full value of our program while retaining 100% equity. No hidden clauses, no compromises.

8. Accelerator Built for Every Stage

Not sure if RootCamp is the right fit because you’re just getting started? Or hesitating because you’re already far along in your journey? Either way, you’re in the right place. We work with startups across all stages, from pre-seed to growth. Because no matter where you are, what matters is where you want to go.

Our program is flexible and tailored to your needs:

  • Early-stage startups join a focused 3-month acceleration program, followed by an optional incubation phase of up to 12 months—designed to get you investor-ready and build a strong foundation.
  • Later-stage startups benefit from rolling admissions, allowing you to apply anytime. Here, the focus is on scaling through collaboration with our corporate partners and driving real market traction.

9. International

Innovation knows no borders and neither do we. We are accepting applications from startups all around the world. Our program is fully conducted in English, so a solid level of fluency is required to get the most out of it. You’ll gain access to an international network of mentors, investors, and partner organizations, opening doors to new markets and opportunities. Whether you’re looking to establish a presence in Germany or expand internationally from here, we’ll support you in taking that next step.

10. Strong Ecosystem with Proven Track Record

RootCamp is part of the SpinLab Group, which has established itself as one of Europe’s leading startup hubs.
