10 FoodTech Startups from Spain you should know

The Desafía FoodTech Germany program is an initiative facilitated by ICEX Spain and RootCamp, spanning six months from April to October 2024. This collaborative effort aims to catalyze the growth and success of Spanish startups in the FoodTech sector by providing unparalleled opportunities for collaboration, networking, and resource access within the competitive German market. We´re thrilled to announce 10 promising startups which were selected to participate in the Desafia program.

Here are the 10 FoodTech startups of the Desafía FoodTech Germany program 2024.

NUCAPS: NEW GENERATION OF FUNCTIONAL INGREDIENTS

NUCAPS pioneers the world’s first platform for functional ingredients, utilizing protein-based microencapsulation for bioactives and probiotics. Their solution addresses critical technical challenges across industries, offering controlled release and full absorption through protein-made microcapsules. With a focus on health improvement through nutrition, NUCAPS boasts up to 30 times increased absorption, seamlessly integrating functionality into food matrices with a clean-label and a sustainable approach.

Libre Foods: REINVENTING FUNGI-BASED INGREDIENTS

At Libre Foods, the entire food system undergoes reimagination for a sustainable tomorrow, driven by innovative fungi-based products. Leveraging fungi fermentation technology, Libre Foods is developing a platform of fungi-based ingredients that meets consumers expectations in terms of experience, nutrition and price. Libre Foods achieves this blending business acumen with cutting-edge R&D advancements to reshape dietary landscapes.

Cocuus: REVOLUTIONIZING FOOD PRODUCTION

Cocuus revolutionizes food production with industrial solutions for alt-protein analogues using 2D/3D laser printing, bioprinting, and robotics. Their patented MEATMETHICA technology heralds a new era of protein revolution, mass-producing plant-based meats and seafood indistinguishable from animal products in taste and nutrition, all while prioritizing attractiveness, health, and sustainability.

Bioprocesia: CIRCULAR FEED FOR THE WORLD

Innomy: FROM BY-PRODUCTS TO INNOVATIVE PROTEIN SOLUTIONS FROM MYCELIUM

Innomy introduces mass fermentation using grains and industry by-products to produce mycoprotein, offering scalable, efficient solutions adaptable to customer facilities. Their solid fermentation method delivers both powder and soluble mycoprotein, promising sustainable, versatile protein sources.

LET IT V: UNIQUE PLANT-BASED MEAT

LET IT V crafts memorable plant-based meat products, aiming to sway consumers across the dietary spectrum with irresistible taste and texture. From vegan bacon to other meat alternatives, LET IT V's products promise an authentic culinary experience with every bite.

Biomixing: LEADERS IN BIOREACTOR MIXING

Quevana: MAKING CHEESE WITH NO DAIRY

Oscillum: SMART LABELS FOR REAL-TIME MONITORING OF YOUR PRODUCTS

Oscillum fights food waste by developing active and intelligent packaging technologies. Their active packaging solutions allow to increase the shelf life of fresh food, by delaying ripening (for fruit and vegetables) or by preventing the growth of pathogenic bacteria. Smart labeling monitors food safety and quality in real time, by changing color in response to bacterial growth or loss of freshness.
