This year, Desafía AgTech Germany is once again opening doors for Spanish startups to explore and experience Germany’s AgTech ecosystem. This intensive program combines market-entry guidance, high-level networking, and direct access to corporate partners, industry leaders, and investors. Run by RootCamp with ICEX and Red.es, the initiative helps startups adapt their solutions, build strategic connections, and prepare for international growth. By bridging Spain’s fast-growing AgTech scene with one of Europe’s most technology-driven agricultural landscapes, the program turns innovative ideas into concrete business opportunities.
AjaxDNA digitizes cell engineering using AI and advanced sensors. Its “LabOnACell” workstation creates digital models of biological systems, allowing companies to design and test enzymes and microorganisms much faster than traditional laboratory methods. This approach significantly reduces development time and costs for industries such as pharmaceuticals, food production, and industrial biotechnology.
Calpech is a nanotechnology company developing sustainable iron nanoparticles from agricultural waste. These particles are used to improve biogas production by increasing methane output, removing hydrogen sulfide, and stabilizing anaerobic digesters. By combining nanotechnology with circular economy principles, the company helps make renewable energy production more efficient and environmentally friendly.
Cesens Technologies provides smart sensor systems and weather stations that monitor crops in real time. Its technology collects data on soil conditions, plant health, and climate, which farmers can access through a cloud platform and mobile app. This information helps growers make better decisions about irrigation, pest control, and resource use, improving productivity while reducing environmental impact.
The circular economy initiative Clic Recycle transforms human hair waste into environmentally friendly products. Its biodegradable agricultural materials help reduce water consumption, fertilizer use, and soil temperature fluctuations. The company also develops marine barriers that absorb pollutants such as hydrocarbons and heavy metals, helping to clean ports and coastal environments.
Inolve Newtech is a deep-tech company developing FLIWER, an AI-driven platform for precision irrigation and fertilization. Using smart sensors to monitor soil, light, and nutrients, the system combines real-time data with weather forecasts to automate plant care. By delivering exactly what plants need, FLIWER optimizes crop health while significantly reducing water and resource waste for professional and agricultural users.
IOVI applies machine vision, image analysis and AI to the AgriFood industry. Its technology acts as a “smart digital eye” that can automatically inspect products, detect contaminants, and evaluate food quality. By providing real-time analysis, IOVI helps food companies improve safety, traceability, and operational efficiency.
Lab4impact develops robotics and deep-tech solutions for sustainable agriculture. Its “Zerotoxbot” system uses sensors, artificial intelligence, and microwave technology to detect and eliminate weeds without chemical herbicides. This approach helps farmers reduce pesticide use, protect soil health, and maintain more sustainable crop production.
Tropotherm offers intelligent thermal control materials designed to improve greenhouse farming. Its temperature-sensitive compounds allow greenhouse films to automatically adjust how they manage sunlight and heat. This helps create a stable microclimate for crops, improving productivity while reducing water consumption and the need for manual shading methods.
Veterinaria de Precisión Diagnóstica provides advanced monitoring solutions for livestock health. Its “BigGuardian®” system uses non-invasive sensors to track body temperature in cattle and detect early signs of illness. By identifying health problems sooner, farmers and veterinarians can treat animals more effectively and reduce the need for widespread antibiotic use.
Sowify Global Solutions offers a specialized software platform designed to transform agricultural data into precise actionable decisions. Through its "Luca" app, the startup helps farmers analyze soil conditions, weather patterns, and machinery data in real time. By digitizing field management, Sowify enables users to optimize resource input by up to 40%, increasing overall productivity while promoting sustainability and reducing CO₂ emissions.
The Desafía AgTech Germany program is accompanied by an event series offering multiple opportunities to connect with founders.
The event series kicks off in Frankfurt with a networking breakfast "Taste of Spanish Innovation" on May 7th alongside the Growth Alliance Summit, offering a relaxed setting to connect with startups and exchange ideas.
On May 11th in Hannover, the Demo Day marks the central moment of the program. Startups present their solutions on stage, combined with keynotes, discussions and networking with investors and industry representatives.
In Berlin on May 13th, a curated community breakfast at MotionLab.Berlin connects startups, investors and Berlin's ecosystem players for focused exchange.
