This year RootCamp will support the Desafía AgTech Germany program. Desafía is an intensive market entry and networking program aimed at promising Spanish AgriTech startups. The goal of the program is to provide participants with a deep understanding of the German market and to connect them directly with partners, companies, and investors.
Organized by RootCamp and supported by ICEX, and Red.es, the program enables selected startups to further develop their solutions specifically for the German market and prepare optimally for expansion.
Germany as a growth market: Opportunities for AgTech startups
Germany is currently one of the most exciting target markets for AgTech innovations. For Spanish startups, it offers fertile ground for growth, partnerships, and internationalization. In 2024, Germany was the second-largest agricultural producer in Europe, with a production value of more than €73 billion. The demand for digital solutions in agriculture continues to rise. Furthermore, according to a recent study, around 85% of German farmers already use digital tools for planning, management and optimization of their operations.
In addition, Germany can offer a well-developed ecosystem of innovation and funding that specifically supports tech startups. Alongside government programmes and funding, there are numerous hubs, accelerators and research institutes that are open to collaborate with young companies. RootCamp itself is an active part of this ecosystem, focusing specifically on the agriculture, food and bioeconomy sectors.
Desafía AgTech Germany Program at a glance
The Desafía AgTech program is aimed exclusively at Spanish startups focused on innovations in the AgTech sector. It offers an in-depth exploration of one of Europe's most innovative ecosystems and a valuable opportunity to gain insights into German business culture.
The application phase runs until 26 September. Startups in the following sectors are welcome to apply for the program: agricultural biotechnology; the circular economy and carbon capture; robotics, mechanisation and smart devices; software for agriculture and livestock farming; and other agtech sectors.
Startups will be selected at the beginning of October and will join the Kick-Off/BootCamp in Madrid on October 13th-14th. Following the bootcamp, the chosen teams will begin their virtual preparations for visiting Germany.
While in Germany, participants will visit companies, institutes and innovation centers, receive pitch training, and will be supported in defining their market potential and developing individual strategies for market entry and fundraising.The program takes place in Germany from November 5th to 12th, 2025.
Agritechnica: A global Stage
The highlight of the Desafía AgTech Germany program is the Demo Day on November 10, 2025, held as part of Agritechnica in Hannover – the world’s leading trade fair for agricultural technology. Agritechnica attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from over 140 countries. Global market leaders, technology drivers, and emerging startups present their solutions here. For the Spanish participants, the Demo Day is not only a platform to present themselves to potential partners, customers, and investors, but a genuine opportunity to position themselves in a highly innovative, international environment.
